  • thing 23 more reflection

reflection  my favourite thing (no seriously!)

I've added a few more techy tools to my range.

I've become more active via twitter etc (but due to iPad - good timing of course and equipment)

I've given myself time to reflect - the volunteering thing was extremely good timing and helped me to come to a decision that sits (just) okay with me professionally!

and I maintain my 'library blog' (http://mrctda.wordpress.com/) (but still struggle with that whole 'self publicising'/ is what I'm doing/saying good enough to share!)

and have started a private blog - purely for self reflection!

Cheers - and can't wait till next time!

  • Thing UKLibChat

am now following and will look forward to gleaning more useful info/debates/opinions!

didn't follow the live feed - as was behind the 23 programme - have read thr summary and apart from the comment about evernote (which I love and use on my iPad) I agree with pretty much all of the comments made.

  • thing 21 job hunting

Right now I get a kick out of helping at my local primary school in their 'library' (see thing 23!)

This is where I have wanted to go, my obvious thrill when doing it/ thinking about it, just proves that this is still the case.

So do I just keep waiting for that perfect job, and then pounce with my fabulous updated CV, and an oustanding letter of application which links allmy experiences and talents to the role they are trying to fill...

    Tip

If you get called to interview - they know you can do the job, they are just checking you haven't got 'two heads' or are socially inept. Go in thinking "Do I want to work here?" or check them out for the "two-headed" condition!

  • thing 20 running out of ideas

yep did this for thing 10,

will go back and load up my route and have another browse...

  • thing 19 review so far

I've played with a few new things - prezi, screencastomatic and these have been useful.

What has made a difference to me professionally has been my recent aquisition of an iPad, as this has allowed the social networking to be more seamless and part of my daily routine.

For instance before iPad if i wanted to check out who i was following on twitter I'd have to wait for a quiet moment (how often do they happen) at school to have a look. so I rarely used twitter, and linked in even less.

However since i downloaded Flipboard and have all my my networks in one place - with easy, instant access I check these out daily - if not more often. I can do this sitting at home during the adverts (multi-tasking?) and load up / email useful links into work to deal with/ circulate the next day. very cool.

So is it the tools (which I was aware of) or the equipment (the iPad) which has had the greater impact during the course so far.....

That said, I do LOVE the idea of cpd 23 things. I particullary like the reflective parts. Like this bit! makes me stop and think rather than just relying on intuition.
